The blunt truth is that the US needs more talent in the fields of science and engineering. Not enough people in the US are interested in those fields. So they pool the talent from India. Once here those people decide to stay. So I mean who can blame them. Living in the USA is way better than the struggles of India.
How does the luck of the draw fit into the “colour blind, meritocracy based” approach espoused by President Trump? Masters holders from top US universities are forced out of jobs despite their employers desire to retain them because of the lottery based visa allocation. Shouldn’t employers be able to have a say in who they wish to employ? It is ironical if not ridiculous that rapists and murderers and many unqualified others have had a better chance to live (and work) in the US than a Stanford University Masters holder who is trying to get a work visa.
