GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – The City of Grand Junction has decided to uphold its ban on new skilled gaming businesses within city limits. City officials concurrently are considering how they will regulate gaming establishments from a zoning standpoint.
Skilled gaming businesses are also referred to as “gray casinos” and they operate using arcade style games that offer monetary payouts. Local law enforcement agencies have also found a correlation between these businesses and increased criminal activity.
The city council voted unanimously on Wednesday, Feb. 21st, to extend the temporary suspension preventing the formation of new skilled gaming businesses and restricting existing ones from relocating within the city. The temporary suspension was set in motion in March of last year.
