Visa is too strict yes it's necessary for security but also you can allow some relaxation for short term study visas like 1-2 yrs. Many students around the world hopes to get them educated from west just don't deny them.

I have a question. I received ESL admission and the i20 letter came and I got a visa appointment . I entered in the ds160 form , my national service , the Army .
As you know in Iran , national service for 2 years is mandatory in IRGC ( in banned list of USA) but I was a primary school teacher in those 2 years . 8 years ago .
Do you think I should edit and write the truth in that form ds160 ? Do I have any chance of getting a visa? Is it possible to edit ds160 at all ? Please guide me.

However, the US Embassy staff in my home country of Sri Lanka is unfriendly, reckless, and afraid of foreigners. It is unfair. I have a lot of experience with these types of nonimmigrant interviews in my home country, and my first encounter with them was the worst because they did not offer me any assistance and instead expected me to be rejected. And after this interview i got frustration and i stop all activities to go usa .
