Latest: Timberwolves Analyst Roasts Thanasis Antetokounmpo During Bucks’ Loss

The Milwaukee Bucks were blown out by the Minnesota Timberwolves at home on Thursday night, 129–105.

The lopsided defeat resulted in some increased minutes for members of the Bucks’ bench, including Thanasis Antetokounmpo, the brother of Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Thanasis prepared to check into the game midway through the fourth quarter with Milwaukee trailing by 23, prompting a ruthless remark from analyst Jim Petersen, who considered Thanasis subbing into the game to a sign of surrender from the Bucks.

“The white flag is being waved,” said Petersen.

“Because Thanasis is getting ready to come into the game,” said Petersen when asked to explain his comment.

Thanasis’s entrance to Thursday’s game, in the eyes of Petersen, signaled that Milwaukee had given up on mounting a comeback and were prepared to trot out the end of their bench for the rest of the game. And he didn’t hesitate to voice those thoughts live on the air.

Thanasis was a healthy scratch in each of the Bucks’ previous five games and has played in just 19 of the team’s 52 games, averaging just 4.1 minutes per contest. He logged five minutes in Thursday’s loss, registering two points and one personal foul.
