Bird migration, a deadly journey – Alyssa Klavans

Discover why migration is so taxing and harmful for birds, and what methods we may help birds on their journey.

Almost 200 species of songbirds migrate south for winter, some touring as much as 7,000 miles. No straightforward activity, the annual journey is harmful to birds attributable to panorama change — a lot so, that solely half the birds that migrate south will return dwelling for spring. Alyssa Klavans particulars why chicken migration is so taxing and the way we are able to help our chirping pals.

  1. Humans always find a way to hurt the nature ☹️ poor birds, good that you started with an analogy about road trip. I can't imagine how much birds suffer through light, radiation, and noise pollution 🥺

  2. I once saw a fill-in sheet that says this: ( bolded parts are the handwritten answers that the student filled)
"If we pollute the waters, fishes will…" DIE
"if we cut the trees, birds will…" DIE
"if we keep ruining the Earth, people will…" DIE
"so if we want to help regenerating our Earth, please…" DIE

  3. Good video, highlights the real problem of agricultural practices and urban sprawl.
"Birds help with insect control, pollination and dispersing seeds throughout the landscape. " disbursing = spending money

  4. I want to note as a Citizen Scientist for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, feeding and providing nest boxes for birds needs to be done in particular ways, otherwise efforts can be wasteful or worthless to the birds who need it. Check out The Cornell Lab's Project NestWatch and Project FeederWatch for more information on how to do those activities safely and properly.

  5. I learned from this video that migratory birds are suffering from human land development. But it wasn't just the damage the migratory birds suffered. I was shocked that this was damaging to humans as well and that it was eventually becoming a vicious circle. There are government support and solutions to improve these problems, but they are still serious. I am really grateful to know these matters now and I am please the fact that they can be improved by only my efforts. So I'll start by breaking the habit of turning on the lights for long periods of time until the late night for migratory birds.

  6. This video alerted me with new knowledge. Unlike my thoughts, I come to know that the migratory birds are intellectually preparing a lot to move and we, the humans' desires were the one that unintentionally impede their movement. Till now, I've never thought of a world without birds, but after watching this video, I come to face with serious problem and thought what the world will be like when the birds are not around us. (Maybe the world will be very horrible.) So, I would like to take actions for our better world.

  8. I thought that the migration of birds was simple but, it was not. it was rather complicated. I was surprised that because of human development, birds lost their way. I hope many people could consider birds more by watching their video.

  9. At first, I was very interested in preparing for the migration of migratory birds, but later I was very sad to learn that the migration of migratory birds was a dangerous journey due to modern natural destruction. I was also very frustrated that development and development had a bad effect on many ecosystems around us, including migratory birds, as well as on nature.Through this video, I hope that there will be no more reckless development for many animals and plants, including migratory birds, which will suffer from natural destruction due to development.  And I hope that eco-friendly development can be made sooner. Above all, I will make efforts to revive the environment.

  10. This video made me realize for the first time that the movement of migratory birds is not just long, but at the risk of their lives. We also learned how little we humans think about nature through the migration of migratory birds. Therefore, I became interested in migratory birds that I was not interested in through this video, and I wondered what kind of migratory birds I was passing through our country. And in the future, I think it would be nice if we had more interest in ways in which we can coexist with nature.

  11. This video gave me an opportunity to think about the environment.
I, who didn't really think about the environment, heard the story of birds and learned a lot about the environment and the path of movement.
It is a video that played while leaving the text of the textbook during the school class, which helped me study.
We need to develop an idea of how to preserve the environment.

  12. As we know, birds travel on their own. If you look at the sky, you can often see it. But their number is decreasing, too. Why is that? I knew that maybe it was because of us. Just as we are sensitive to sudden changes when we travel, so are birds. The act of removing their habitat to improve our quality of life is a very serious change for them. If the population of birds decreases, our lives will definitely show signs of change. We have to move to prevent this. Who knows if our small actions, even small movements, will contribute greatly to the bird's journey? Therefore, we must act.

  13. This clip made me think more about nature, including birds. I think that the factors that prevent birds from moving, such as pesticides or tall buildings, are due to the development of civilization. The development of civilization is good, but I think it shouldn't go too far. I think we should consider nature more, like the way it came out in the video.

  14. Before I watch this video, I didn't know that migrating birds were at risk. Birds take pesticides as they move around and lose their habitat in land development. It was a pity that the cause of this result was people. In order to solve this problem, there is a soultion, but i think it is necessary to help the government implement it more positively. I hope this will help the birds to migrate safety.

  15. Before I watched this clip, I never thought migrating birds was dangerous. The migration of birds was more dangerous than I thought. But people have a bad effect on migrating birds. The world will be confused if migrating birds that give us advantages are put in danger. So, we need to help migrating birds finish their journey safe.
