Will this work if the “new” Mac is a used Mac with the previous owner’s setup still active?
Thank you! I just watched your video and made the transfer from old Mac to new Mac flawlessly!
Can I go from an Intel mac (Monterey) back up from time machine onto a brand new Mac Studio (Ventura) even if all is not compatible? Would it tell me if it is not compatible or would it be greyed out in some way. Thank you
I had to connect my pc laptop to my new MacBook using an Ethernet cable (had to get an adapter for the MacBook)
The problem I have and I cannot find a solution for it anywhere, is that my files are under other users and shared. I cannot access the files I transferred from windows to Mac. I tried changing the account settings aswell as every other tutorial. still the files cannot be found nor deleted. Its annoying as hell.
Is the Migration Assistant considering cloud files when you are using Dropbox?
Can this be done with a cable instead? For example, what if you don't have Wi-Fi? Where I live we have Wi-Fi sometimes as bad as 2 MBPS download and forget about uploading anything.

My computer via Wi-Fi has been transfer data from old Mac to new Mac for about 6 hours now. Maybe it will be done by morning ! If not I’m going with the cable method.
Question: what if you have a mac mini and only one dedicated display and have to xfer data to a a mac studio? Or would it be better to simply download the data from time Time Capsule via Time Machine? If so how is it done? Thanks
Thanks, Is there a detailed video of how to do this with a USB-C Cable instead of WiFi.
How much faster would it be going from M1 Mac to M1 Mac via Cable?
Does this work if you want to transfer music files from old Mac (iTunes) to new Mac (music)?
Once I’m satisfied that everything has transferred to my new iMac, what steps do I take to wipe my old iMac once migration assistant is complete so that I can recycle it? I can’t seem to find much info to complete the backside of this process.
This is one of the best videos I've seen with instructions to help transfer your data from an old to new Mac. It was direct and to the point and lead me through the whole process with no problems. Thank you very much.
Ok.. I have an issue here. My old iMac (late 2013) failed an update and suffered a critical failure. I was able to try a second time through Apple support, so I was able to verify that the internal drive was fine, it was just an operating system failure. So now I have the old 1T drive out of the old mac, and have bought a cable so I will be able to access the data and hopefully migrate this to my new 2023 iMac. Will the migration assistant help me do this?
