  1. Another point that is not being brought forward here is the fact that the original legislation only affected debit cards. Why is that you think? Because it was much easier than doing it on credit cards which have interest associated with it. If doing it on credit cards also was a good idea they would have done it then. I would expect the same people who opposed it before to oppose it again unless they are just bending to Trump's will for socialist actions. I don't think Trump himself even believes in it but is so afraid to lose midterms he's willing to lean left.

  2. Seems many believe the interest rate cap is basically a done deal. Not so fast. He and Congress will be going up against the biggest banks in the world. So this is no slam dunk.

  3. Makes you wonder what is in it for trump. Did Visa and Mastercard not make their payment. The revenge tour continues. Agree, the market overreacts like always.

  4. I hate to break it to you but the “swipe fee” or “merchant fee” is passed along to the consumer. In a lot of places/stores the retailer is adding 3% to the bill if you are paying with card and giving 3% discount if paying with cash. It is happening a lot in Kansas City, Missouri.

Oh and btw the merchant passes this along to the consumer. I’m unsure why people do not understand that concept but have no problem understanding who may or may not be paying the tarriffs. I personally am indifferent about the borrowing rate for credit cards as I don’t borrowed money that way if I need it, however, I highly doubt I gets passed. More than likely they are talking out their ass to give the politicians a better buy in position. 😂

    Either way great insight.

  5. I disagree on that 3% not being on us. Many places now charge a surcharge to cover that fee to pass it on to the customer. Most tell you and some don't. My guess is most want remove the surcharge even if they it removed or lowered. Greed will take over at that point. Overall though great review.

  6. In this act, advantage to consumer is rewards. To save high risk borrower, regular consumer will be affected. Merchant will not reduced their price as they want profit margin for their company to grow. I am in favor of introducing new payment method or alternative for more competition. Let’s hope at the end it helps to American consumer not corporate

  7. Some merchants are now passing this CC fee to consumers. They raise their prices by 3% or so on your bill if paying with a credit card. It’s only a matter of time before this becomes the norm around the world just like tipping has. I have a visa position expiring 1/30 and kick myself for not exiting before the stock dropped on Monday.

  8. Excellent analysis. I really do enjoy my reward. I purchase everything through my cards just for the reward. They pay for all my Costco purchases lol. Hate to see all the free food I get disappear
